What Is Soft Tissue Manipulation?

Soft tissues are the muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves, vessels, and the fascia network that supports every structure in the body. STM releases restrictions in these tissues, relieving tightness and increasing circulation to remove the toxins produced in the damaged and inflamed tissues. Oxygen and nutrient supply is increased, promoting better long-term healing. The result is a reduction in pain and increased freedom of movement.

What is the difference between massage therapy and STM?

Massage therapy uses different types of pressure and movements on the skin and muscles aimed at general relaxation, and soothing and easing of muscle pain. STM also uses contact and manipulation, but with specific targeted techniques to treat the dysfunctional tissues and support recovery of damaged tissues.

How can STM help me?

STM can be used to relieve:

  • Tight or sore muscles
  • Painful or aching back and neck
  • Stiff or swollen joints
  • Frozen shoulder, tennis/golfers elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, and plantar fasciitis
  • Myofascial pain from fibromyalgia, ME/CFS, and long COVID

Treatment is tailored to the specific type, timescale, and degree of dysfunction.

If you have any questions, please call or message me, to talk about how I can help.
